Today is Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, which is the time of year when the company shows off everything it’s been working on. With the iPhone 6 expected to launch this year and news of the new iOS 8 update, Apple fans are eager to find out what to actually expect for the end of 2014.

Some of the features of the new software platform includes iCloud Drive, Mail Drop, and updates to Safari.
Next Apple introduces Continuity to the new OS X.
With the new “continuity” feature, Apple has introduced features such as Handoff and SMS Messaging. With just a quick flip of your finger, you can continue what you were doing on you Mac straight on your iPad or iPhone. This also works with text messaging and even phone calls! With Continuity, you can answer any call straight from your Mac even if your phone is in another room.
OS X Yosemite is available today for Apple developers and will be released to the public this fall… for free! Non-developers can also trial the beta program of Yosemite this summer at apple.com/osx/preview.

Apple introduces the SDK, Software Developer Kit, where developers and non-developers alike can go beyond their imaginations and create new and innovative applications through the App Store.
iOS 8 also introduces Extensions, Widgets, Third-Party Keyboards, Touch ID, Home Kit, Cloud Kit, Metal, Sprite Kit, Scene Kit, Xcode, and more!
- Extensions allows applications such as Safari to include easy-to-access extensions for immediate use such as direct translation and widgets available on the notifications window.
- Apple finally allows users to download and install third-party keyboards that still protect users privacy.
- Siri now includes Shazam capabilities and handsfree communication with over 22 new languages.
- Metal revolutionizes and allows for enhanced 3D-gaming. Look out for Epic Game’s Zen Garden coming to the app store for free with the release of iOS 8.

Though the iPhone 6 was not confirmed, this years developers conference was a massive success with the introduction of anticipated software updates OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 expected to available to the public this fall. These new services offer a variety of brand new and innovative programs that will enhance and change users’ experiences. The DEV capabilities also allows developers and non-developers to join the Apple team to create their own applications with a new programming language and real-time preview.
