Chinese Social Media Users Announced Boycott of iPhone

Hundreds of thousands of Chinese consumers are calling for a boycott of Apple’s products in favor of Huawei. On social media, many of them claim that they are switching from Apple and already looking for an alternative to iPhone, Apple Watch, and other popular devices produced by the U.S. tech giant.

For the last few days, a hashtag on Twitter-like social media site Weibo, which translates as “Huawei’s chip doesn’t need to rely on the U.S. supply chain,” has reached nearly 50 million views.

The trend went viral after the U.S. ramped up pressure on Huawei and announced cutting it off from key American technology suppliers, including Google.

Analysts said that such kind of move could hurt Apple sales in China in the short-term. Some of them believe that the political tensions between the U.S. and China could end up hurting Apple further.
