Didn’t Expect to be The Winner of the San Diego Business Journal’s Innovation Awards
Back in November 2012, I was excited from all the good reviews SprinkleBit had received after we got featured in the San Diego Business Journal. When we, last month, received an email saying that SprinkleBit was nominated for the innovation awards, I was flattered. But I never expected to receive the innovation awards this early in our strategic path. We have so much innovation that we want to share with our current and future users, that we forget how much work we have put in to the excising features.
The Innovation Awards
It was a regular June-gloom day in San Diego , the event was hosted in the finest facilites of University of California San diego, right by the ocean. Already when I walked in at 4:30pm, there were a lot of excitement in the air; people were chatting, drinking and eating from the gorgeous buffet.

The auditorium at Scripps Seaside Forum was packed with entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, and the curious public. San Diego Business Journal’s Editorial Head, Reo Carr, kicked off the event by speaking about San Diego’s flourishing innovation culture.

After a short introduction the finalists were presented, and it was some pretty amazing companies which had been nominated.

After two long hours the announced the winner of the San Diego Business Journal’s Innovation Award in Financial Innovation, and they had chosen SprinkleBit. I was so surprised I had not even prepared a speech. So I did what every entrepreneur would have done in my shoes:
First I would like to thank the San Diego Business Journal for awarding SprinkleBit with this price. It means a lot for the whole team. Amon and Reo spoke a lot about innovation in the introduction to this event. In front of me, I see San Diego’s cream of the crop when it comes to innovation. It’s an honor to receive this recognition and we’re nowhere near of being done with our innovations here at SprinkleBit, we’re just getting started. We wish we had 25 hours in a day, so we could work even harder to bring the most innovative Social Investment Platform in the world.
